War and Remembrance 1997 episode 20 Overview (End)

Wan Lek told Siu Yuk that his order got stolen and he is surrounded by Wan Yip and his uncle. Wan Lek sent his servant to ask Tsang Jing and the Anti-Quing for help. The priest asked Tsang Jing to show his martial art skills if he wants to lead the Anti-Qing to help Qianglong. Tsang Jing used a fabric to fight with the priest since he said he doesn’t use sword to fight with his friends. Tsang Jing won the fight and the priest is willing to help him rescue Qianlong.

Wan Lek asked the doctor to tell him one reason why he should give up his throne to the prince’s uncle. The doctor said the soldiers is surrounding and the prince’s uncle is ready to attack and Wan Ip’s gun is ready to wait for the Anti-Quing to arrive.Wan Lek ordered Wan Yip and the soldier to arrest the prince’s uncle. Wan Yip told the prince’s uncle that the doctor and him are loyal to Wan Lek. Wan Lek told the prince’s uncle he knew his plan from the time that Wan Jau died. Wan Lek said Wan Yip and the doctor are his loyal people. The prince’s uncle killed himself.

Wan Lek ordered Wan Ip and the soldiers to shoot at Tsang Jing and the Anti-Quing. Wan Lek ordered the guards to kill Tsang Jing. Tsang Jing pointed a sword toward Wan Lek then a thunder rise. Tsang Jing performed a martial art then left. Tsang Jing looked at the dead anti-Quing.Tsang Jing killed himself.

Wan Lek told Siu Yuk he killed the Anti-Quing because he’s scared they might revenge him. Siu Yuk told Wan Lek that Tsang Jing has conscience while he doesn’t. Siu Yuk told Wan Lek he can kill her if he wants to. Wan Luk said Tsang Jing cares for his friends but he cares for his people. Siu Yuk asked Wan Lek to promise to let her do the funeral to Tsang Jing. Siu Yuk asked Wan Lek to plead for forgiveness to Tsang Jing. Wan Lek asked Siu Yuk to promise him to not think about the dead of Tsang Jing again.

At the funeral, Wan Lek promised Tsang Jing he will peace to the Han and Manchu. Siu Yuk looked at Tsang Jing and cried. Siu Yuk said how she can live without Tsang Jing. Siu Yuk said she failed to use her love to help the king be good to the Han. Siu Yuk said Wan Lek doesn’t have anymore conscience since he has the power. Wan Lek asked the guards to burn Tsang Jing. Siu Yuk ran on the fire and died.

War and Remembrance 1997 episode 17-19 Overview

Wan Lek’s mother wants to build a temple in the Han Village but Ngok Yee Tai prevented her. Siu Yuk told Wan Lek’s mother that if she built the temple at the Han’s village, then the Han will not have a place to live. Kam Fung told Wan Lek’s mother that Siu Yuk is spoilt by the love of Wan Lek. Wan Lek’s mother sent Siu Yuk to the forbidden palace after finding out that she wrote the order with Wan Lek. The prince’s uncle put a lot of poison snakes in the forbidden palace then asked Kam Fung to alert Tsang Jing. The prince’s uncle set up for Tsang Jing to be the hero saving Siu Yuk so Wan Lek will be jealous.

Wan Lek and his friend went to the casino. Wan Lek’s friend asked the casino boss if Wan Lek wins, then he will pay him double the money but Wan Lek lose then the boss will have to pay him double. Wan Lek kept on winning and bet big money. Wan Lek then went to the brothel. A lady named Lee Fung Jie flirted with Wan Lek. Wan Lek felt disgusted. Lee Fung Jie told Wan Lek that the king is not as handsome as him. Wan Lek asked his friend to slap Lee Fung Jie. The casino boss which happens to be Lee Fung Jie’s brother, sent his men to beat up Wan Lek. Wan Lek dropped Tsang Jing’s jade while fighting.Wan Lek got arrested. Wan Lek showed the magistrate his seal but the magistrate is illiterate. Lee Fung Jie’s brother’s man showed him Tsang Jing’s seal that Wan Lek dropped. Lee Fung Jie’s brother asked the magistrate to let Wan Lek go, thinking that Wan Lek is the new leader of the Anti-Quing. Wan Lek’s friend finally sent the soldier to arrest Lee Fung Jie’s brother and his men. Wan Lek got mad that his seal is not even worth more than Tsang Jing’s jade.

Tsang Jing told Siu Yuk that the poison snakes cured her poison put by the doctor. Siu Yuk prepared food for Tsang Jing to celebrate his birthday. Siu Yuk gave Tsang Jing her bracelet which Wan Lek gave her. Siu Yuk told Tsang Jing that the bracelet is originally belongs to Lui Sei Niong –and he thought that since Tsang Jing loved her so much, he would cherish the bracelet more than her. Siu Yuk told Tsang Jing that she is scared being in the palace since she has to beware of other people scheming. Wan Lek came and asked Siu Yuk to come back to the palace. Siu Yuk ran away. Wan Lek asked Tsang Jing to persuade Siu Yuk. Tsang Jing told Siu Yuk she has to stay by Wan Lek since she has to remind Wan Lek to be nice to the Han. Tsang Jing told Siu Yuk she is pregnant with Wan Lek.

Wan Lek’s mother argued with Wan Lek about setting up the temple in the Han’s village. Wan Lek gave an order to forbid rumors in th palace. Wan Lek’s mother pretended to hang herself but Wan Lek ignored. The prince’s uncle asked the doctor to lie to Wan Lek that the Siu Yuk’s baby belongs to Tsang Jing. The doctor lied to Wan Lek that Siu Yuk has been pregnant four months ago which is from the time that she was with Tsang Jing. Wan Lek forced Siu Yuk to abort the baby. Tsang Jing sent six famous doctors to check the pregnancy of Siu Yuk. The six doctors all said that Siu Yuk got pregnant five months ago. wan Lek asked me to hit the doctor. Wan Lek asked the doctor who ordered him to lie. The doctor said no one is behind this and he was wrong about the pregnancy because Siu Yuk took some medicine. Wan Lek asked the doctor if he is loyal to him.

Wan Lek drank with Tsang Jing to bid him farewell. Tsang Jing told the king the next time he will see him is either he needs help or he wants to kill him. Tsang Jing told Wan Lek they could become good friends if he wasn’t the king. Wan Lek asked Tsang Jing if he would kill him if he attack the Anti-Quing in the future. Tsang Jing told Wan Lek to remember how he got to be king. Tsang Jing said he will rebel against him if he does something to hurts the Han. Wan Lek got drunk at night. Tsang Jing told Siu Yuk that Wan Lek has changed. Tsang Jing asked Siu Yuk she has to remind Wan Lek to bring peace to Han. Siu Yuk played the harp for Tsang Jing.

Wan Lek respects Tsang Jing for helping him but he doesn’t like how always talk about Zhang Han and Manchu should be peaceful. Wan Lek reminds Wan Yip that he doesn’t want his siblings to scheme each other. Wan Lek wishes there were more kin he can chat with. Wan Lek and Wan Yip looked at the stars at night.

Kam Fung got mad that Wan Ip will bring his wife and kids to the palace. Kam Fung said if Wan Yip divorces her, she will say all the dirty things he did. Wan Ip grabbed Kim Fung but the prince’s uncle stopped him.

Kam Fung told Siu Yuk to not trust anyone. Kam Fung said she never did a good thing.Wan Lek asked Wan Yip to practice his shooting well so he can help him. Kam Fung wrote a letter to Siu Yuk that she might be killed tonight. Wan Ip killed Kam Fung. Siu Yuk read the letter inside Kam Fung’s clothes that Wan Yip killed her. Wan Lek told Siu Yuk that Kam Fung wants to alienate the relationship between him, her, and Wan Ip. Wan Lek tore the letter. Wan Lek gave Siu Yuk a bracelet but Siu Yuk accidentally broke it.

War and Remembrance 1997 episode 11-16 Overview

Still a lot of details to cover. This recap is based on my memory.

Wan Jau got really scared that Tsang Jing and Wan Lek will kill him.Wan Lek wants to marry Siu Yuk but she’s a han. The prince’s uncle found a rich Manchu couple to adopt Siu Yuk. Siu Yuk found out that the couple is the one who caused her family to be beheaded. Siu Yuk ran away to find Tsang Jing. The prince’s uncle ordered Chow Jing On to kill the couple and blame it on Siu Yuk. Wan Jau recognized the knife belongs to Chow Jing On since he gave him that knife. The prince’s told the king that Wan Jau killed the couple. In jail, Wan Jau told Wan Lek that he shouldn’t kill him because when he was young, Wan Lek let his bird escape his cage. Wan Lek remember that Wan Jau told him that they can’t find a person with the same blood. Wan Jau is his brother after all so he forgave him. The prince’s uncle lied to Wan Jau that Wan Lek didn’t forgive him and will burn his skin. The prince’s uncle gave Wan Jau a drink. Wan Jau hung himself.The prince’s uncle wrote a fake letter to Wan Lek that he hates him and wants to be king. Tsang Jing told Wan Lek that the letter is fake since Wan Jau is so afraid of him, and he wouldn’t have the motivation to kill him. The prince’s uncle asked Chow Jing On to admit his crime of killing the couple and writing the fake letter. Wan Lek beheaded Chow Jing On. Tsang Jing told Wan Lek it is a pity that Chow Jing On died because he wanted to know who ordered him.

Tsang Jing told the Anti-Quing that there is no need to rebel because Wan Lek is a good king and people are now living in peace. Tsang Jing let Kam Fung pointed a sword toward his stomach to prove that he didn’t kill the Anti-Quing leader. Tsang Jing’s pupil came and took Tsang Jing away. Madamn Tong make a deal with a hunchback doctor to save Tsang Jing. The Hunchback asked Madamn Tong to have sex with him and marry him then he will cure Tsang Jing. Madamn Tong cut the doctor’s manly part. The doctor got so scared, and cured Tsang Jing. The doctor asked Tsang Jing to help him leave. Madamn Tong told Tsang Jing to come back to see her in the spring.

Captain Ngok got scared that Siu Yuk will harm Wan Lek due to Yongzheng beheaded her family. Captain Ngok Yee Tai asked the other magistrate to arrest Siu Yuk. The prince’s uncle told Wan Lek that Captain Ngok sent people to arrest Siu Yuk. Wan Lek arrested Ngok Yee Tai. Tsang Jing asked the king to forgive Ngok Yee Tai since he’s loyal to him. If he beheads Ngok Yee Tai, people will think that Wan Lek is playful about women and lazy. Siu Yuk is willing to let the doctor put some poison on her which will control her from using force. As Wan Luk marries Siu Yuk, Siu Yuk arms got hurt when Wan Luk touched her. Wan Luk hugged Siu Yuk finding out how much she sacraficed for him.

Tsang Jing persuaded the Anti-Quing to not attack Qianglong since Qianglong is a good king and there’s no guaranteed that a Han King will be good. The Anti-Quing people listens to Tsang Jing. Kam Fung got mad and wanted to commit suicide but Tsang Jing prevented her. Kam Fung drank at a restaurant and slapped some man. A priest eliminated Kam Fung’s martial art since she was so rude. Kam Fung fainted in the rain. Wan Lek’s cousin Wan Yip saved Kam Fung. Wan Yip slept with Kam Fung. Wan Ip told the prince’s uncle that he can use Kam Fung.

In the spring, Tsang Jing visits Mrs. Tong. Mrs. Tong told Tsang Jing that the doctor put poison on her. Mrs. Tong asked Wan Lek to fulfill her wish by taking her to see the sunset before she dies. Tsang Jing took Mrs.Tong to see the sunset. Mrs. Tong told Tsang Jing in his dream that she loves him but she was glad that he teared up when she died and now she can live peacefully. Tsang Jing performed romance martial arts in front of his student.

Wan Luk traveled to many places out of the palace to understand the life of the people.

War and Remembrance 1997 episode 1-10 overview

I was thinking if I should write a recap, review, or overview of this drama. I’ve watched War and Remembrance 1997 3 times. There’s a lot of details I have to go through in this drama. This is a drama I recap based on my memory.

I started the first ten episodes of this drama. The first ten episode talks a bit about Emperor Yongzheng played by Law Lok Lam who wants to give his throne to Emperor Qiang Long played by Louis Koo. Yongzheng has a nightmare that Nin Kang Yew revenging him. YongZheng lied to Tsang Jing played by John Chiang, that Wan Lek is the son of his beloved Han lady. Tang Jing really loved Yongzheng’s beloved Han lady Lui Sei Niong – that he kept all her belongings. Yongzheng wanted to get rid of Tsang Jing when he was young but he couldn’t because Tsang Jing is so observant and has a rare martial art skills so he decided to become friends with him instead. Tsang Jing knew that Wan Lek isn’t the son of Lui Sei Niong – but he still willing to help him because he thinks Wan Lek will be a good king. Tang Jing told the prince played by Felix Lok that the second prince Wan Jau (played by Timmy Ho) uses even dirtier tactics than when Yongzheng tries to kill the other princes to be king, so he won’t side with Wan Jau.

In the beginning, Wan Jau took Wan Lek out for fun. Wan Jau asked his spy Chow Jing On to kidnap Wan Lek and give him to the Anti-Quing. Wan Lek and the prince’s uncle tries to change the Majesty order so Wan Jau can be king. The first half of the order is on the top of the box while the second half of the order is in the bottom of the box. Captain Ngok guards the order day till night to make sure that no one steals it. Wan Jau and the prince’s uncle only saw the first order on the top of the box but couldn’t find the other half. Wan Jau asked a priest to hypnotize the king to ask the king where is the second half of the order. Yongzheng said the second half of the order is in the bottom of the box. Wan Jau heard wrong and assumed that one of Yongzheng’s concubine has the second half of the order. Wan Jau killed the concubine. The prince uncle told the magistrate Derek Kwok that Wan Jau’s mother is a Han so when he becomes king he can make peace to the Zhang Han and the Quing.

Wan Lek flirted with Siu Yuk played by Yvonne Yung and Kam Fong. Kam Fong saw the painting that Wan Lek draw of him and siu Yuk together. Kam Fung got mad and was used by Chow Jing On to give Wan Lek some kind of poison to him. Tsang Jing cured Wan Lek’s disease. Siu Yuk was sent to a Buddhist temple for her to repent her mistake.

The Anti-Qing leader deals with Tsang Jing to exchange Wan Lek for 3 precious treasure: The sword, another treasure, and the seal. On the way to get the second treasure, A beautiful lady that many men fell for told Tsang Jing her story of killing many men who fell for her lust because a man killed her husband for her.Tsang Jing made her realized that killing many men is a sin and it doesn’t make her comfortable thinking about revenge. When Tsang Jing went to uncle prince to get the seal, the prince’s uncle gave Jang Ting a fake seal. When Tsang Jing gave 3 treasures to the Ani-Quing’s boss, Wan Jau’s spy told the Anti-Quing that the seal is fake. Tsang Jing said no one has seen the seal before and wouldn’t know if it is fake. Wan Jau’s spy accused Jang Tin of killing the man who possessed the first treasure since he just died. Tsang Jing walked with Wan Lek, and his pupil out of the Anti-Quing’s temple. The Anti-Quing’s leader stopped Chow Jing On from sending a letter to Wan Jau. Wan Jau’s spy killed the Anti-Quing’s leader and accused Tsang Jing.

Siu Yuk saved Wan Lek. Siu Yuk followed Tsang Jing and his student and Wan Lek on their way to the palace. Siu Yuk respects Tsang Jing for teaching her morals. Siu Yuk is willing to be Tsang Jing’s servant forever but Tsang Jing told Siu Yuk she has to stay by Wan Lek to give him advice to be a good king. Tsang Jing hopes that Wan Lek can fulfill his dream of bringing peace to to the Ming and the Quing. Wan Jau ordered the magistrate (Derek kwok) to behead the Anti-Qing. Siu Yuk asked Wan Lek to stop Derek. After Tsang Jing, and Wan Lek saved the Anti-Qing, Kam Fung threw Siu Yuk by the sea but Tsang Jing’s student picked her up on the boat.

Tsang Jing asked Siu Yuk to distract Wan Jau and the soldiers while Wan Lek visits the king. Tsang Jing asked Yongzheng to die right away to prevent Wan Jau to change the order. Tsang Jing annoucned to the magistrate and the princes that Wan Lek is only the one who will replace him as the king. Yongzheng died. the prince’s uncle released the eight prince which was Yongzheng’s rival, to kill Wan Lek at the temple. Wan Lek read Tsang Jing’s charm to use his brain to deal with the eight prince. Wan Lek told the eight prince that he will give him a high rank and fortune after he becomes king. Wan Lek told the eight prince that Wan Jau will kill him later. Wan Lek said if the eight prince kill him, the Wan Jau will be king and he won’t forgive him. Wan Jau told the soldiers to prepare to shoot the person who walks out of the temple since he might harm Wan Lek, Wan Jau saw the king and was surprised that Wan Lek walked out safely. Wan Lek becomes king.

This is the part that I stopped. Will watch the last 10 episodes later of king Qianlong. 🙂
