Annie’s maid returned the painting to Annie. Annie bet with Johnny that Madam Ching’s servant friend wasn’t pregnant. Madam Ching’s servant told Johnny that her friend is pityful. When she was pregnant, her husband left. Her son was death. Annie and her maid doubts that Ellesmere isn’t the son of the bandit and the tattoo was a coincidence.

Annie eavesdrop on Louis and the third Madam’s conversation of bringing Myolie to the palace to be the majesty’s concubine. Annie encourage Annie to runaway with Ellesmere. Mark warned May’s fiance not to bother May and if he wants to revenge on May, then find him. Mark claimed he is May’s fiance. Mark told May he didn’t lie about being his fiance, he truly wants to marry her. Mark asked May to be his wife. May told Mark she doesn’t feel well and won’t attend the chess tournament. Louisa told May that Annie is starting to fall for Frankie since she takes Frankie’s bet seriously about sewing the flowers. In the garden Myolie talked to Ellesmere using Frankie as an example of herself being controlled by her mother so she couldn’t hang out with him. Ellesmere sighed to Frankie and Annie that Myolie’s mother won’t accept him. Annie told Ellesmere that the third Madam will eventually accept him just like how she and Frankie used to argue with each other but now become friends.

Florence’s maid pretends to hang herself during the night. The doctor told Madam Ching that Florence’s maid is pregnant. Florence asked her maid who is the man who caused her to be pregnant. Florence’s maid refused to say. Florence suggests to spank Florence’s maid for her to tell out. Louis asked his family to stop forcing Florence’s maid, he is the man. Madam Ching checked the golden cup and complimented that she will return it to her. Louisa entered Miss Ching’s room and told her honestly that her family is in debt and she pawned the golden cup. Miss Ching told Louisa she is a good girl but she has a flaw that she cares too much about what others think. Madam Ching compared Louisa to a book cover and said even if the cover has changed, the inside will not change. She is still her nice daughter in law. During lunch, the third madam told Louise she heard that her family is in trouble and May stayed here. Louisa admit that her father’s business has went down and she can’t afford bird’s nest anymore. Madam Ching told Louisa that they are family and she will buy bird’s nest for her.

Mark invited Louis to a drink and told him a story of a when a daughter was born, the people placed their wine in the closet. When the daughter get married, they will take out the wine to serve the people. Mark told Louis he met May on the street and had the eye on the same hairpin. Mark complimented May. Mark solved the chess piece for May. Mark played chess with May and asked her to think of how to sole the chess piece. Annie pretends using the jade to get rid of the ghosts. Annie asked Ellesmere if he gave Frankie other gifts besides the butterfly jades. Annie asked Ellesmere about his background. Annie complimented Ellesmere’s mother and asked her to vow that Ellesmere is her son. Ellesmere’s mother refused to vow and brought the dessert for Myolie. Florence’s maid brought the bag of rice for Florence. Florence told her wives she took the bag of rice from the magistrate wife to pray for her kick out her husband’s mistress.
